We will interest ourselves about some big feminine representatives who have marked feminism’s story and who continue sometimes today. They are not all here of course but this gallery permits nevertheless to notice a few.
Olympes de Gouges
Olympes de Gouges was born the 7 may 1948 in Montauban and died the 3 november 1793. She was a woman of letters and politician. She is considered as a pioneer of feminism in France. She has written the Woman and Citizen’s rights declarations. She is an icon in the fight for women’s defence.
Simone de Beauvoir
Simone de Beauvoir was born the 9 january 1908 in Paris and died the 14 april 1986. Writer and philosopher, she is considered like one mothers of the feminism, such as her work Le deuxième sexe. It has been published in 1949. She has too taken part of the Women liberation movement.
Simone Veil
Simone Veil is famous feminist above all famous to have proposed and implemented one of the most importants laws in France : the decriminalization of access at the interruption of pregnancy. She was born the 13 july 1927 and died the 30 june 2017. Survivor of the Shoah, she lost a part of her family.
Gisèle Halimi
She is a lawyer very invested in the feminist case. She has for instance taken part indirectly to the Veil-law, has manifested for access at the interruption volontaire of pregnancy and has defended the raped women concerning the justice. She was born the 27 july 1927 in Tunisia and died the 28 july 2020 in Paris.
Gloria Steinem
Gloria Steinem is a high activist of the second vague of feminism (1960-1970). She is born the 25 march 1934 in USA and is always active for the movement. She is reporter and writer.
Oprah Winfrey
Oprah Winfrey is an actor and famous host of TV show. She is born the 24 january 1964 and is a high femminist. She has a lot brought back and defended women in her talk show The Oprah Winfrey Show, it is for that she has received lots of prices.
Michelle Obama
Michelle Obama is a lawyer invested in women’s rights. She is born the 17 january 1964. She has spread idea of school access for girls and others feminist values in her speeches.
Emma Watson
Emma Watson is one of the biggest feminists at the moment. She has done a lot of speeches and travels to promote her feminist thoughts all around the world. She is born the 15 april and is a famous british actor.
Angèle
Angèle is a belgian singer born the 3 december 1995. She is one of the celebrities the most invested in feminism in Europe and even in the world. She has done some invested titles like Balance ton quoi, which highlight the feminism topic and the defense of women.
Malala Yousafzai
Malala is a pakistani born the 12 juillet 1997. She is very invested in the access to school for young girls. She has received a lot of prices like the price of peace in 2014 for her oppositions against the interdiction of education for girls and against the Taliban in Pakistan.
